Show and Tell

At the end of each week we have Show and Tell. Usually, we see a lot of toys and I read a lot of their favorite books. On one day, however, Nendalynn brought in a book of her own to read to the class. They were all very impressed! She is a great reader! Here she is, working hard on the second page while I tried to sneak in a picture without distracting her. I hope you can see her smile.

Thanksgiving Feast

Our Thanksgiving Feast was a huge success, thanks to the help of all the parents. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, macaroni and cheese, and ice cream and pie for dessert. We ate until we were all stuffed! Oh, did I mention the root beer, 7-up, and other yummy drinks? They enjoyed the extra time to socialize and have such a delicious meal. Don't worry, they remembered to say please and thank you.

We ate upstairs because it's just too hard to carry all that food down! After squishing around the table we ate until we thought we were stuffed, and then ate some more!
Here is our morning class having some ice cream. I told the class to say, "Ice Cream!" and it took a few tries. Many of them thought I was saying, "Show ice cream!" and we had lots of open-mouthed pictures. Our models here are Annie, Madison, Nicole, Kortney, Paige, Lucas, Dallin, Ashley, and Makinlee.

Star of the Week

It's Jackson's turn to be star of the week, and he loved the extra attention! He brought in a poster all about his favorite things and we read it to the class. It's a fun way to learn more about our classmates.

Birthdays are a big deal here. The boys are kings and the girls are princesses. They get to go first for everything. We sing Happy Birthday and they get to choose a gift out of the birthday box. They also put the weather picture on our calendar. Here are Jens and Megan posing on their special days.

Driving Lessons

Here's what you do with twelve children on a rainy day:

1. Give them a box

2. Give them two paper plates

3. Give them crayons, scissors, and glue

4. Stand back and let them work!

We had a unit on cars and transportation. The class made cars out of boxes, put their phone numbers on as license plates, and spent a lot of time practicing their driving skills. We did EVERYTHING from the cars that day except snack. Watching twelve four and five-year olds with steering wheels made me grateful we hadn't added a real gas pedal!

Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall... Humpty Dumpty had a great fall... All the king's horses and all the king's men (and the children in the ambulance above)....

LOVED putting Humpty together again!

Nap Time

Math had to wait today. Logan decided nap time was more important and took advantage of his comfortable seat.



Yes, he really was asleep.

Autumn Walk

We went for our first "field trip" to the Spanish Fork Parkway Trail in October to admire the autumn leaves. After our walk, we stopped to play at the playground, eat lunch, and play with the parachute. The weather looked forbidding, but the big rainstorm held off until after we returned to school.

Abi gave the class a nice lesson on static electricity.Everybody posed for a quick picture. I wanted more, but it's hard to sit so still when the playground equipment is staring at you and BEGGING you to come back and play!

After the first few tries with pattern blocks I let them choose their own page to do. It was so much fun! (Mason on left, Bryce on right)

Christmas program 2008
